Drawing is the most basic form of art. First we learn to draw shapes but to capture feelings with nothing more than lines and spaces is the essence of drawing. When using black and white the artist focuses the eye onto the page by creating positive and negative space whereas with greys and whites a much softer focus is created through shading. The undulation of lines through the page causes the eye to focus where the artist intends. For many a great artist, drawing has been the heart of hearts .
